Over the past years we have noticed that many parents have a parallel journey to their Racers. So much so, you will hear us talking about your journey over and over. Now that your Racers have embarked on their Race, you might have already begun your own. You can sit by and be an observer or you can jump in yourself to your own journey.

The first phase is abandonment. Abandonment takes many forms. You don’t have to leave all your comforts behind like your Racer did. You have let your Racer go; that is one form. You can also abandon fear and distrust. You can abandon bad habits and old mindsets. God can show you how to enter into abandonment with Him, that way, while your Racer is gone, you grow spiritually as well.

The next phase is brokenness. No one wants to go through brokenness. Racers will be stretched with being so far from their comfort zones. God will use the hard places they travel to break their hearts for the things that break his. You might also feel broken. Holidays without your loved one might break your heart. Your roles might be shifting as your children spread their wings without you. It is a difficult but important phase of your journey.

All of this leads to dependence. Running to God and letting him direct you, comfort you, lead you. You might learn to hear his voice in new ways. You might find new places he leads that are stretching. You might see him in places you didn’t know about before. This time while your Racer is away is a new beginning for you too. Participation with God and each other during this time is a key to growth.

Here are some ways other parents have found that he has led them to be connected during their own journeys.

  • Attending the Parent events (virtually or in person) like launch and Parent Vision Trips.
  • Discussing what God is doing in your life on the Facebook groups with other parents. (They are your support system! They are in it with you!)
  • Reading books that encourage spiritual growth.
  • Facilitating a book study on Kingdom Journeys in the parent Facebook group.
  • Leading and participating in prayer times on Facebook groups.
  • Considering becoming a Parent Navigator in the future.
  • Meeting other parents in your area.
  • Organizing prayer walks in your neighborhood.
  • Leading in ministries in your home church.
  • Starting new outreaches in your community.

There are as many ways to join what God is doing to bring Kingdom as there are parents and Racers. Please reach out and let us know if you feel him leading you to be a part of what we are doing here. Also, let us know how God is leading you in your own families, communities, and churches. The stories that will come from this year will encourage others and your Racers will be thrilled to see what God is doing in your lives while they are gone!

One response to “How Can You Participate?”

  1. I can definitely sense the move of God in new ways since Katherine’s launch. Our entire church body is experiencing a fresh anointing full of expectancy. I miss seeing Katherine everyday but am so excited for how God is teaching her and opening her eyes and her heart to see His plan and purpose for her and the world around her. I too feel as though I am beginning to move to the rhythm of God’s grace. Can’t wait to see it all unfold!
